Rustam Sengupta is the founder and CEO of Tuktu (www.tuktu.ca |www.tuktu.ai), a platform that builds digital infrastructure for community-based service providers. Tuktu helps individuals and small businesses manage their customers, providers, scheduling, and payments through an AI-enabled backend system, while also offering a shared marketplace to drive customer acquisition and lower costs. The platform is designed to aggregate and empower the long tail of community care and support services.
Previously, Rustam founded and scaled one of South Asia’s fastest-growing solar mini-grid companies, which he successfully exited. He served as Investment Director at Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC), leading government-backed investments in cleantech startups across the country.
Rustam is an MBA from INSEAD Business School and holds a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine. He is also an Echoing Green Fellow, former Associate Director at Johns Hopkins ISEP, and has taught sustainable energy at UBC. He serves on the board of the EarthON Foundation, which supports grassroots climate leaders in the Global South.
He splits his time between Canada and Vermont, where his wife teaches at UVM, and is the proud father of an 11-year-old son.
