CEO/Mayor Pro Tem/Mom

Nichole Sterling is the CEO of My Town AI, a civic intelligence platform that combines GenAI, agentic workflows, and low-cost digital twins tailored to local government needs. Already piloting in 8 municipalities, the platform is positioned to capture a $2 billion initial market in the United States while advancing responsible AI governance.

As Mayor Pro Tem of Nederland, Colorado, Nichole Sterling has championed the integration of resiliency frameworks into local government operations. She views GenAI as a powerful accessibility tool to help overlooked and under-resourced municipalities catch up to the private sector, positioning local government as the next wave of innovation. Her public service work recently gained national attention as she leads the effort to acquire her community’s ski mountain, creating a model for municipally owned resorts and showcasing how local governments can drive bold, place-based economic development.

Nichole also leads several key initiatives at the intersection of AI, governance, and equity. As Co-Founder of Women Defining AI, a nonprofit dedicated to redefining the role of women in the AI industry, she works to close the gender gap in AI fluency and adoption. In her role as Co-Chair of the GovAI Coalition’s Use Cases Committee, an initiative launched by the City of San José, she helps local governments across the U.S. navigate how emerging AI tools impact public service delivery, ethics, and procurement. Closer to home, Nichole serves as a Director for the Denver Regional Council of Governments, where she advances cross-regional strategies for housing, transportation, and climate resilience across Colorado.

Nichole’s career bridges the public and private sectors, grounded in systems thinking and a deep commitment to community outcomes. She has applied her skills across healthcare, utilities, and early-stage tech - blending strategy, marketing, HR, and finance to turn complex challenges into resilient, scalable solutions. Whether leading municipal digital transformation or designing inclusive AI ecosystems, she brings a rare combination of operational discipline, policy insight, and vision for equitable innovation.
